Walled Lake 3rd grade class
The Walled Lake 3rd grade class is nominated as a Y-PIF finalist for their dedication and contribution to help make the world a better place. They each wear a UNICEF powerband that they use to earn “powerpoints” which unlock therapeutic food packets for malnourished kids around the world. They learned about UNICEF’s 17 Goals for Sustainable Development and are always looking for ways to help meet those goals (some goals include ending hunger, providing clean water, taking care of wildlife, equal education opportunities etc). The students also participate in a yearly Kindness Project. Last year they made and delivered 25 comfort bags to Mott Children’s Hospital, and this year we creating bags for children at a homeless shelter in Detroit.
